2019-20 SA Local Government First Aid education Guide

SOLUTIONS Funded under LGAWCS

Overview Like any workplace, councils need to have minimum numbers of qualified first aiders as stipulated by the SafeWork Australia First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice. Depending on their role in the council and the nature of their workplace, staff may need to complete specialised training. St John offers courses specifically suited to the council work environment, including Remote Area First Aid. All courses are available on-site for groups or as individual bookings. Untreated mental health conditions cost Australian workplaces approximately $10.9 billion per year. 3 This staggering figure highlights the prevalence of mental health conditions in society and the need to provide adequate support in the workplace. For every $1 that is invested in creating a mentally healthy workplace, there is a $2.30 positive Return on Investment (ROI). 4
