Autumn Cash Lottery The introduction of the St John SA Autumn Cash Lottery. With $335,000 in prizes to be won, the Autumn Cash Lottery made available 24,000 tickets available to the public. Pregnancy Babies and Children’s Expo St John SA attended the Pregnancy Babies and Children’s Expo in May 2022, Australia’s largest and the world’s longest running early parenting event.

Sheffield Shield St John SA EHS volunteers provided coverage at the 2021 Sheffield Shield at Adelaide Oval. Awards Day Members recognised for their service. Among those a Margaret Corkhill Encouragement Award and a Robert Britten-Jones Award for training excellence.

AFL and SANFL games at Adelaide Oval St John Ambulance SA Event Health Services (EHS) volunteers covered a range of AFL and SANFL games. Light Creatures The St John SA EHS volunteers attended Light Creatures at The Adelaide Zoo. This event is an evolving celebration of conservation exploring the historic precinct to encounter new up close and immersive experiences.

St John SA eAcademy St John SA eAcademy went live. The eAcademy is an online learning management system offering training to St John staff and volunteers. Stryker Stretchers and Stair Rescue Chairs Installed Stryker Stretchers and Stair Rescue Chairs installed at Adelaide Entertainment Centre and Hindmarsh Stadium. Adelaide Showgrounds Contract Renewed The contract between the Adelaide Showgrounds and St John SA to provide first aid and medical services at the venue was renewed for 5 years. National Cadet Competitions A National consensus resulted in the National Competitions also being cancelled for 2022. This was primarily due to difficulties in running them online in 2021. Movie Night at the Drive In - Westside Story St John SA held a Movie Night at the Drive In feauturing the movie Westside Story, raising funds for First Aid in Schools (FAiS). Ambulance Surge Capacity The St John SA EHS team supported SA Ambulance Service during the pandemic by providing Ambulance Surge Capacity (urgent and routine intra hospital transfers). St John SA provided two ambulance vehicles with Registered Paramedics, Ambulance Officers and Patient Transport Officers during February 2022, April 2022 and July 2022. Overall, we provided care to and transported 197 patients and travelled a total of 6,167 kms. eAcademy launched New online learning platform (eAcademy) launched to support blended learning for our Operations Members. This also supports face-to-face workshops being used for practical based learning instead of the more traditional lecture style. This means our Members spend more time practicing their skills in a learning environment before using them for real events. February 2022

WOMADelaide WOMAD returned to its pre Covid venue and crowd size. A field hospital was set up on site at the event with St John SA Event Health Services paid staff and volunteers in attendance. One patient treated by the St John SA team at the event suffered anaphylaxis from a wasp sting and was provided life saving care. Provide First Aid 100% Online Trialled 100% online delivery of Provide First Aid (PFA) with St John SA staff at participants.

Christmas Pageant St John SA EHS volunteers provided coverage at the Adelaide Christmas Pageant at Adelaide Oval. Schoolies St John SA is ensured the medical safety of all our Year 12 Graduates of 2021 as they celebrated Schoolies at Victor Harbor. The St John SA M*A*S*H style Medical Centre was made available to all attendees of the festival, staffed with St John SA Doctors, Paramedics, Nurses and Medics. We also provided coverage at two of the caravan parks in the area. Charity Golf Day More than 140 business leaders took to the green for the St John SA Golf Day event, raising funds for First Aid in Schools (FAiS).

Social media milestone St John SA’s Instagram followers reaches 1,300 followers.

State Cadet Competitions State Competitions were held at Prospect Centre on Aug 29th 2021. Youth members from across the state competed for the state championship. Youth members entered into multiple categories including first aid, drill, and food tray. For the first time the ‘Youth Member of the Year’ and ‘Youth Leader of the year’ categories were held separately and the winners were announced at Awards Day.

St John Day St John SA celebrated St John Day by working with Adelaide Oval and the Convention Centre to light up red and green to honour St John’s past, present and future and the long history of serving humanity. Regional Cadet Competitions Youth Members competed within their regions for the chance to compete at the State Competitions. A range of first aid knowledge, the ability to provide quality care under pressure were tested. Our youth members, again, showcased their knowledge, resilience, humility, and teamwork. Movie Night at the Drive In – Elvis St John SA held a Movie Night at the Drive In feauturing the movie Elvis, raising funds for First Aid in Schools (FAiS). Life saved St John SA Volunteers saved the life of marathon runner, Michael Inverarity at the Pichi Richi Marathon that took place from Port Augusta to Quorn through the majestic Pichi Richi pass on Sunday June 26. Michael suffered a cardiac arrest when our trained first aid volunteer officers were passing by to assist another runner who had cut their head. Equipped with their training and an AED, they were able to save Michael’s life before phoning for an Ambulance on route to Quorn Hospital. Michael is now back to enjoying life with his wife and young family. Community Care Awards Community Care award recipients were acknowledged for their amazing achievements at celebratory lunches in each of the regions.

ANZAC Day St John SA members came together to remember those who served and died at war, attending ANZAC Eve Youth Vigils, Dawn Services and Commemorations. Volunteers also attended in a response capacity. Provide First Aid 100% Online Launched PFA 100% Online and offered to general public as an alternative to face-to-face training.

September 2021

St John Home and Lifestyle Lottery Running from September through to December, St John raised much needed funds to support its volunteer network providing care to tens of thousands of patients each year. New First Aid Units St John implemented new First Aid Units of competency to ensure all training participants receive the latest and most up to date training.

Ashes Australia v England St John SA EHS volunteers provided coverage at the Ashes Australia v England game at Adelaide Oval. Santa’s Wonderland St John SA EHS volunteers provided coverage at Santa’s Wonderland at the Adelaide Showground.

National Volunteer Week We celebrated the amazing achievements of our kind-hearted volunteers with a city parade and public thank you.

Restart a Heart Day On 16 October, St John Ambulance SA supported SA Ambulance Service as part of an international awareness campaign for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation.
