Community Care

The St John SA Community Care program is focused on creating a sense of purpose, enjoyment and meaning in life through support and companionship to older South Australians and those at risk of social isolation. Our team of caring and dedicated volunteers are matched one-to-one with clients based on shared interests and goals to build an empowering volunteer-client relationship. The Community Care programs have a wellness and reablement focus to allow for clients to retain independence and continue to live their lives in a way that is meaningful to them. One of our special clients, Geoffrey, celebrated his 100th birthday last year and his lovely volunteer, Annie, created a photo book for him with memories of some of the moments they had shared together during their social support sessions. This special momento has given Geoffrey and Annie a shared talking point, allowing them to reflect on wonderful memories that they treasure. It also serves as a lasting legacy for Geoffrey’s family and friends to enjoy too. 208 Community Care volunteers
