St John Ambulance SA is a self-funded charity that has been supporting the wellbeing of South Australians for over 140 years.

We help tens of thousands of people across the state each year through the delivery of Health and Medical Services, first aid training and products, and social inclusion programs. Each year, we support the safety and wellbeing of over 2,200 events, with our staff trained well beyond basic first aid to provide the highest level of care.

Patient Reporting

Approved by SA Health, we are licensed to purchase, hold, and administer various medications, including over-the-counter and Schedule 4 drugs. This allows our team to perform lifesaving procedures and treat illnesses effectively. Operational Planning Our experienced team of Operational Planners will work with you to tailor our service offering to your event and its requirements, no matter how big or small. Our structural approach to medical planning is underpinned by our extensive event medical plans and other relevant documentation.

• Detailed Documentation: We complete a Patient Record Form for every clinical presentation, with a copy provided to the patient and another held in compliance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act.

Our Staffing Comprehensive Staffing Capability

St John Ambulance SA has an extensive and highly capable staffing cohort to meet the needs of your event. • Registered Paramedics, Nurses, and Doctors: Experienced medical practitioners with current unrestricted AHPRA registration, many trained in Advanced Life Support. • Ambulance Officers: Hold a minimum of Certificate IV in Healthcare (Ambulance) or Diploma in Health Care, with significant pre hospital experience often gained through Statutory Ambulance Services. • Event Medic: Trained in advanced first aid and resuscitation, with the ability to use advanced airways, trauma management equipment, and administer a wide range of medications. • Bike Response Team: Provides rapid response to incidents at your event, equipped with defibrillators, advanced trauma management equipment, and lifesaving interventions. • Communications and Liaison Officers: Coordinate Health and Medical Services within Event/Emergency Operations Centres, enhancing safety and efficiency. • Operations Command and Management: Experienced in operations and emergency management, working closely with other emergency services at large events. • Ongoing Training: Our staff receive continuous professional education beyond certification to ensure high-quality, customer-focused support.

Q. Can your team members offer more than first aid? A. Yes, absolutely! St John Ambulance SA provides a range of advanced medical services, including oxygen resuscitation and basic life support. Our team includes highly skilled Registered Paramedics and Nurses to meet your event’s needs. Q. Why do I need to pay for your service? A. Our services involve a mix of experience paid and volunteer team members. To cover essential costs such as uniforms, insurance, and equipment, we use a cost-recovery model. This ensures that we can provide a safe and well-equipped environment. Q. Will St John Ambulance SA follow my event’s governing regulations? A. Absolutely. Please provide all relevant regulations with your booking and, our Registered Paramedics will review them and include them in our risk assessment. If regulations are unclear or not provided, we’ll conduct a thorough Risk Assessment to ensure appropriate coverage. Q. Can you provide a quote over the phone? A. For the most accurate quote, please complete our online booking form. This helps us gather all necessary details. If you need a quote urgently, submit the form and then contact us at HMS.Events@stjohnsa.com.au. We’ll do our best to meet your timeframe. Q. My event is just a few days away. Can St John Ambulance SA help? A. Absolutely, we understand that plans can change! While we prefer at least two months’ notice, we’ll do our best to accommodate last-minute requests. Additional fees may apply for urgent bookings. Complete the online form and call us at (08) 8306 6941 to get started. Q. What if there are no volunteers available on my event date? A. We strive to secure our highly skilled volunteers for every event. If we’re fully booked, we can access a casual staff pool to fill the gap. Availability is limited, so booking early increases the chances of securing the help you need. Q. I’ve submitted an online booking form. What happens next? A. You should receive an automated confirmation email within 5 minutes of submission. If you don’t, please try re-submitting or call us at (08) 8306 6941. We’ll review your event details and get back to you within 2 weeks. Q. How do I make changes to my confirmed booking? A. To make changes, email HMS.Events@stjohnsa.com.au or call (08) 8306 6941 as soon as possible. For changes to dates or times, we’ll need to reassess staffing availability, so please let us know as early as you can.
