St John Ambulance Australia SA Inc Annual Report 2020/21

In November 2020 the Board launched the St John SA Strategic Plan – Strategy 2025 - which will guide us all over the next five years. St John SA is at a pivotal point in its development as a professional, skilled and highly sought-after health and community service. Strategy 2025 was co-created with volunteers, staff and other stakeholders and aims to ensure sustainable growth for St John SA over the coming years. Strategy 2025 is structured around five strategic pillars which reflects our organisational ambitions and include: • Educate – ensuring we are educating South Australians in a contemporary way, making sure they have the knowledge and skills they need as their priorities change. • Responded – responding quickly and appropriately when needed in the community. • Deliver – delivering new and innovative service models that assist the most vulnerable members of the community. • Invest – investing in long term strategies that both develop and support our charitable work. • Engage – engaging and retaining highly skilled and committed volunteers and staff to develop a strong, diverse and unified St John SA. Following on from Strategy 2025, I launched the Case for Change initiative in May 2021. This initiative is focussed on creating a new St John SA and direct us into a future that respects the past, lives in the present but with a strong plan for the future – and one that focusses on the role of volunteers and their experience. Since this launch event, many of you have been involved in consultations on where we are heading, and I look forward to rolling out the culmination of all this information in coming months. We have a busy few years ahead, but it is also going to be very exciting, with many opportunities for growth and positive change. I am excited to be leading St John SA at this pivotal time for the organisation and to advance our vision and mission through these clear strategic initiatives. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have played key roles in the success of St John SA. In particular to: • Our volunteers, staff and members who commit their skills and talents to support the work of St John and deliver services throughout the year • Our management team who provide leadership across all of our people • My executive team of Steve, Kerry, John and Bruce who develop, implement, track, check, support, engage and focus our work • The Chair and the Board of Management for providing strategic governance of St John SA, and providing support to me.

As we all reflect on the past twelve months of service in the name of St John SA, I eagerly look forward to our change in the coming years and am inspired by Barack Obama’s words: Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. For the Faith and in the Service of Humanity
