St John Ambulance SA Inc. Annual Report 2020-21

HISTORY & HERITAGE

The 2020/21 financial year has been an exciting year for St John SA Historical Society as Brighton became the new home for the St John SA Historical Museum and Research Centre. After hard work and dedication by our team of extraordinary Historical Society volunteers, the museum was officially opened by His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC KStJ, Governor of South Australia and Deputy Prior of the Order of St John in South Australia. Our dedicated team of Historical Society volunteers work tirelessly to collect, manage, preserve and research artefacts that reflect the history of the Order of St John and St John Ambulance. Many of these elements are on display in the new Brighton St John SA Historical Museum, which is open for members of the public to enjoy. Coupled with the extensive knowledge of our Historical Society volunteers, the museum is a treasure trove of St John international history and memorabilia that dates back 900 years. Each year, a Historical Seminar is held where the St John Historical Societies across Australia gather and subsequently publish an annual journal. This journal holds a captivating record of the St John history that ensures these important stories and moments in time are documented for future generations to enjoy.
