Schools, libraries, sports facilities, retirement villages, and larger commercial buildings are all included in this vital requirement.

Where you least expect it… In March 2023, a cyclist collapsed on a bike track travelling through the City of Onkaparinga Council. An off-duty SA Ambulance officer was alerted through the GoodSam app, and quickly retrieved an AED from Coromandel Community Centre. The responder was able to revive the cyclist with the AED and stabilised them until they could be transferred to the hospital for further medical attention. “We were informed that without an AED, the chance of surviving this incident was extremely unlikely. This is proof that the decision to invest and install defibrillators at key City of Onkaparinga sites was the right one.” said Moira Were, Mayor of City of Onkaparinga. Having readily available AEDs can be a lifesaver during life threatening emergencies. It provides peace of mind to community members, knowing their local government is prepared to act swiftly. Investing in AEDs is a critical step that councils can take to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.
