2019-20 SA Local Government First Aid education Guide

First Aid Readiness FAQ for courses funded through the LGAWorkers Compensation Scheme Which courses are funded and what do I need to do to access my funding? Each member is eligible for one on-site Provide First Aid course. However, additional or specialised courses are also available upon application to the LGAWorkers Compensation Scheme directly. St John SA can assist you with the application. To schedule your preferred/allocated course, contact St John SA on 1300 78 5646 or courses@stjohnsa.com.au. Howmuch is the course? There will be NO EXPENSE incurred by council for scheduling their allocated first aid course - it will be fully funded by the LGAWorkers Compensation Scheme. Can I send some participants to a St John facility and have others trained on-site? Yes, participants can attend either a public course at a venue hosted by St John, and/or an on-site course. Depending on the number of employees requiring first aid training, and the levels of qualification needing to be obtained, attending a public course may be more convenient. Howmany people can attend the class? Each course allows up to amaximum of 18 participants in order to provide for the optimum learning experience. However, the number of participants recommended for specialist courses may vary, as does the duration. Please refer to page 5 of this guide for further details. What do we need to prepare at our venue? As a guideline, venues will require the following: 8mx8m floor space, carpeted flooring, (up to) 18 chairs, 2 desks for equipment, access to power, projector screen (or large plain white/creamwall) and whiteboards. What information do I need to provide and when? Prior to the training: • St John SAwill provide council with a Participant Information booking form • This information will be used by St John SA to create a ‘My St John’ profile for each attendee Prior to receiving the certificate: • Participants will receive a notification from St John SA to update their new profile and register their USI (Unique Student Identifier) number. Once completed, this will allow attendees to access their first aid certificates online at any time
