Risk Assessments: A risk assessment is conducted of the client’s home by the Program Co-ordinator on their first visit. The risk assessment is reviewed and updated as required by the volunteer. Volunteers also conduct a risk assessment prior to each activity/outing. Their Program Coordinator is informed if there are any concerns and appropriate preventive practices are put in place. What to do when a client is not present or responding for an appointment: If a volunteer arrives at a client’s house and they do not answer the door, the following procedures are to be followed: The volunteer phones the client If there is no answer the volunteer phones the emergency contact If they do not know their whereabouts, the volunteer will then check with the neighbours, and finally Phone their GP.
