Emerging issues Safe Work Australia 2021 recorded a total of 120,355 serious claims of work-related injury and disease. The most common work cover claims were as a result of injuries occurring from body stressing, falls, trips and slips. While the rate of serious claims for work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities has decreased by 23% since the early 2000s, the related costs have increased significantly.
